Welcome to our first original video series called “Acquire Culture,” designed to virtually transport you to countries all over the world and see and hear authentic experiences from real natives.
United States
The USA is home to many cultures, languages, and people. Due to its status as a nominal focus of the world in terms of economy, art production, and technical talent, it’s absolutely beautiful landscape often gets glossed over. The US, including Hawaii and Alaska, contains around 10 of the ~13 major climate types in the world, and hosts a variety of unique and abundant wildlife.
Although the US surely has a dark history, it’s journey is one of redemption as it attempts to make amends and right the wrongs of the past by paving a better future for those that may come next, from near or from far. The country was literally built on the backs of people from all around the world, from Africa to Europe, to Asia and South America. The US holds power in this fact and takes pride in a diverse, resilient, and at times, United People 🇺🇸
Mexico
Mexico is a land with a profound history, deep ancestral roots, and blossoming cultures. It was the home of many intertwined civilizations who once dominated the region. Specifically, the Aztecs, Mayans, and Olmec people were characterized by their innovative technological achievements in weaponry, time measurement as well as their remarkable architecture. The famous pyramids scattered across the land are still recognized for their scale and detail, among other beautiful and powerful landmarks!
The country surely has had historical trouble with governance, in part due to difficulty in uniting a naturally diverse and strong people. But their internal politics surely does not overshadow the intrinsic natural beauty of the jungles, blissful tropical beaches, and warm, colorful skyscapes. Senegal
Senegal is known worldwide for being the country of 'Teranga', a Wolof expression that roughly translates as 'warmth, friendship and altruism'. The mix of different tribes; languages, religions and ethnicities is diverse and powerful. The most dominant is the Wolof. French, however, is the official national language taught in schools.
Senegal is a country with religious diversity, there is total harmony between the religions. For example, all religious holidays are celebrated together...Muslims welcome Christians into their homes and vice versa. There is mutual respect for a person's choice of beliefs. Community is essential in Senegalese culture. Mealtime is very important, as it is a time for gathering and sharing, hence the art of Teranga. 🇸🇳
Germany
Germany is known worldwide for it’s hand crafted technology, cutting edge sports cars, draft beer, and intense music. From the urban, metropolitan regions of Berlin and Stuttgart, to the more traditional, scenic Bavaria, it’s land is as diverse as its people. Germany boasts one of the highest rates of immigration, which has historically allowed many different ethnic and cultural personalities to blend within the country.
While the German culture is often quoted as non uniform throughout the country, as many Germans see the more modern society as branching from Bavarian tradition, there is definitely a pride that is seen in intellectualism and education. Germany is a very literate country, and continuously strives to better its position among the world, ultimately for the sake of it's people! 🇩🇪
Japan
Japan’s reputation as a technologically innovative and culturally rich hotspot remains strong in the modern day. With a well established attention to detail across the industrial, culinary and art sectors, it’s name only holds high regard on the international marketplace. Japan is synonymous with order, balance, and discipline, some of the many time-matured and well defined themes originating from the eastern world.
With the various climate zones and regional natural areas, there is surprisingly a lot of biodiversity on this geo-island. Snow in the North contrasts with the more tropical and temperate weather in the southern islands and archipelagos. What a truly amazing country to explore and learn about! 🇯🇵
Ukraine
Ukraine boasts a wide diversity of scenery and experiences, being one of the largest countries in Europe. From it’s green, lush landscapes with small rural villages, to large metropolitan and cultural hubs like in Kiev, it can easily offer something valuable in every department. Many famous dishes have come out of this region such as borsch, pampushki, and salo. With a reputation for gorgeous and lovely women, it’s no wonder it has always attracted tourists from all over the world.
Ukraine has been at the forefront of global media for over a year now due to the illegal war ongoing there. In March 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine in the eastern provinces and began inter-regionally and indiscriminately bombing hospitals, schools, and housing for native Ukrainians. Millions of people have been displaced since that time, with tens of thousands of soldiers losing their lives standing up to the Russian invasion. Fortunately, Ukrainian forces have held their ground and amassed the support of nearly the rest of the world. As it fights for its freedom, peace, and honor, we shall acknowledge their battle and stand clearly in solidarity with the Ukrainian people! 🇺🇦
Italy
taly’s focus on modernity, fine cuisine, and hospitality make it an extremely popular destination for visitors around the world. Many people are attracted to the history; Italy boasts some of arguably the most well known time eras internationally in the Renaissance and Roman Empire. You can imagine then, the high interest in original architecture, artworks, and sculptures left behind across the many beautiful cities like Rome, Milan, and Venice for example, bring many excited observers. Oh and who can forget Italy’s stupendous pasta and pizza. You can expect a level of passion and quality that goes into each Italian recipe that is unique only to the culture, passed down from generation to generation. We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention the Football scene, which is huge in Italy and perhaps the most important piece of Italian life, except of course, Family ☀️
